Believer & Black History

The inspiration behind Believer is history making women, and this month, we are celebrating Black History. A huge part of which is Black women who have paved the way for others. These women have inspired Believer so much that many of our pieces are named after them. The Oprah Mesh Ring, the Michelle Oval Earrings, the Breonna Hammered Hoops, the Harriet Matte Gold Hoops, the Serena Silver Necklace, and the Laila Chain Link Hoops, just to name a few. These women are the definition of a Believer Babe because of their accomplishments and what they have done or represent for the Black community.

Oprah Winfrey is a truly inspiring women and role model for so many. She was the first African-American woman that owned her own production company, she is extremely charitable, and her show aired for twenty-five years. With her powerful influence on our society and her inspiring story, we had to name a Believer piece after Oprah.

The Oprah Mesh Ring:

Michelle Obama is not only known as being a former First Lady to the first African-American President, she is an activist for better education for girls, equal rights, and healthy living. She also is a lawyer, best selling author, style icon, and a mother. She is an inspiration to many people which is what makes her a Believer Babe, and why we had to name a piece after her.

The Michelle Oval Earrings:

The Breonna Hammered Hoops are named after Breonna Taylor who tragically passed away in March 2020 when police officers wrongfully raided her house. Her death was a main  contributor to the Black Lives Matter movement in Summer 2020 due to police brutality and systemic racism in America. Breonna was an EMT and a crucial member of society who did not  receive justice for her death. We named a Believer piece after her because of her inspiration.

The Breonna Hammered Hoops:

Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and political activist who was born into slavery and escaped. After she escaped, she went on to help many other slaves escape to freedom. She is so inspiring because when she was able to, she stood up and became a leader who helped so many people. She is a Believer Babe because she made history and inspires people to this day.

The Harriet Matte Gold Hoops:

Serena Williams is renowned tennis player and is a former world No. 1 in women's single tennis. She has also won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, which is the most by any player in the Open Era. She is incredibly inspirational because of her hard work and resilience in becoming a professional athlete. Not only is she a famous tennis player, but she is also a navy business woman which has inspired many. Serena is a Believer Babe because of how hard she has worked in her life to be successful and how she inspires so many.

The Serena Silver Necklace:

Laila Ali is the daughter of Muhammad Ali, but that is not all she is. She is an accomplished boxer with 24 wins, no losses and 21 knockouts. She was also the first woman to win a World Boxing Council super middleweight title. She is known as one of the greatest female boxers of all time and an advocate for women’s equality in professional sports, which makes her a total Believer Babe and why we had to name a piece after her.

The Laila Chain Link Hoops:

This month we are celebrating Black History, and at Believer we wanted to showcase just a few of the revolutionary Black women we have been so inspired by that we named our pieces after them.
